Bill’s varied career includes being a journalist, a sworn advisor to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, working at the highest levels of major league sports in North America and in Canadian politics and government, being the crisis CEO of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the President of a large health company.

He is also a business executive who specialises in corporate crisis management. In 1998, Bill co-founded the Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health which he led for 13 years, unveiling in 2000 – in Toronto and Geneva – what was then the first known “Business Plan to Defeat Depression.” Bill launched Mental Health International in 2013 to mobilise a European business-led campaign to reduce the impact of depression in workplaces across Europe and is now Special Advisor to bdi on mental health as it affects global business.
